Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

No. 10 men's hockey falls short on the road

AMHERST, Mass.—A pair of second period goals was not enough to lift the No. 10 Northeastern men's hockey team (4-3-1, 1-2-0 Hockey East) past No. 3 Massachusetts (6-1-0, 2-1-0 Hockey East), falling 4-2 on Saturday night at the Mullins Center.

Aidan McDonough and John Picking tallied a goal apiece tonight for the Huskies in the Hockey East matchup. Capitalizing on the power play, McDonough knocked in a career-first goal to slash the UMass lead in half at 14:12 off the looks from Tyler Madden and Zach Solow. As the seconds waned in the second frame, Picking tallied a shorthanded goal to tie the game up at 2-2 heading into the second intermission.

Despite the setback, the Huskies remained perfect on the penalty kill against the Minutemen, shutting down all four UMass power plays on the night.

UP NEXT
The Huskies continue conference action next weekend when they take on Merrimack for a two-game series. Northeastern will open on the road Friday in Andover, Mass., before returning to home ice on Saturday to close out the series.
