Â
AMHERST, Mass.—A pair of second period goals was not enough to lift the No. 10 Northeastern men's hockey team (4-3-1, 1-2-0 Hockey East) past No. 3 Massachusetts (6-1-0, 2-1-0 Hockey East), falling 4-2 on Saturday night at the Mullins Center.
Â
Aidan McDonough and
John Picking tallied a goal apiece tonight for the Huskies in the Hockey East matchup. Capitalizing on the power play, McDonough knocked in a career-first goal to slash the UMass lead in half at 14:12 off the looks from
Tyler Madden and
Zach Solow. As the seconds waned in the second frame, Picking tallied a shorthanded goal to tie the game up at 2-2 heading into the second intermission.
Â
Despite the setback, the Huskies remained perfect on the penalty kill against the Minutemen, shutting down all four UMass power plays on the night.
