BOSTON – Beginning a new season on a freshly redesigned home floor at Cabot Center, the Northeastern women's basketball team will open its 2019-20 regular season schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 5, with a 12 p.m. matinee against South Dakota. The Huskies are proud to welcome students from Boston Public Schools during their annual Kids Day game.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1.
Looking Back: Northeastern's 2018-19 season was one for the ages. The Huskies won 20 games for the third time during the program's 53-year history, advanced to their second CAA semifinal game during a stretch of four seasons and earned the program's first-ever bid to the WNIT – its second consecutive postseason berth (2018 Women's Basketball Invitational). During her final act in the red and black,
Jess Genco capped school records in minutes played (4,687), games started (122), assists (548) and 3-point field goals (298), departing the program as its third all-time leading scorer (1,567 career points).

2.
Back in (Red and) Black:Â Senior guard
Shannon Todd enters the 2019-20 campaign as the Huskies' lead returning scorer, averaging 11.4 points per game across her 32 starts last season – including her 12.1 scoring average during the CAA regular season. As a junior, the York, Maine, native shot 34.2 percent from downtown, funneling in 54 3-pointers while registering 3.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Todd garnered 2019-20 Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention distinction on Oct. 10 during the conference's Digital Media Day.
Â
3.
Tipping Off:Â Northeastern will oppose South Dakota on Tuesday for the first time during program history. The Coyotes received 17 first-place votes and the No. 1 ranking in the preseason release of the Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll after coming off their 28-6 season, culminated by an at-large berth to the 2019 NCAA tournament as a No. 8 seed. NU is 4-1 during regular season openers under the leadership of sixth-year head coach
Kelly Cole, having earned those results exclusively against Boston University.
