Bolden Brace scored 18 second-half points and finished with a team-high 22, while
Maxime Boursiquot posted his second straight double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Northeastern (6-6) over Detroit Mercy (1-10), 74-61, on Thursday night inside historic Calihan Hall. The Huskies outrebounded the Titans 43-29 and scored 19 second-chance points.
Jason Strong scored 10 points off the bench and added a career-high nine rebounds. After a tough shooting first half, the Huskies made 52 percent of their shots in the second half, 14-for-27. Northeastern also made the most of its opportunities at the free throw line, going 15-for-17 (.882) in the game. The Huskies are No. 4 in the country in free throw percentage.
Late in the first half, the Huskies used a 13-3 run to jump on top by 10 points. Northeastern would not trail the rest of the game, holding the advantage for almost 37 minutes and led by as many as 13 points late in the second half.
Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis led all scorers with 26 points. He is the nation's third-leading scorer at 24.1 points per game. NU's
Jordan Roland finished with a season-low seven points for the Huskies and came into the game as the nation's fourth-best scorer at 23.8 points per game.
The Huskies will jump into CAA play at Towson and James Madison on Dec. 28 and 30.
