BOSTON --
Northeastern men's ice hockey rising sophomore Jordan Harris has been invited to the 2019 World Junior Summer Showcase being held from July 26-Aug. 3 in Plymouth, Michigan, USA Hockey announced on Thursday.

The Huskies are familiar with this event, as former goaltender Cayden Primeau attended the showcase last year. Harris will be auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, which takes place in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic from Dec. 26, 2019 through Jan. 5, 2020. The week-long camp will include 11 international competitions between Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States.

In his freshman season, Harris quickly emerged as a key contributor for the Huskies. The Montreal Canadiens third-round draft pick earned his way onto the team's first defensive line, playing much of the season there alongside Second Team All-American Jeremy Davies. Harris finished the season with one goal and 12 assists to go along with a plus-20 rating that was tied for second on the team.

Primeau and rising sophomore Tyler Madden were both a part of the 2019 World Junior Championship team, which won the silver medal after falling to Finland 3-2 in the gold medal game. Primeau turned heads at the competition, emerging as the team's main goaltender and compiling a 4-0-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record with a 1.61 goals against average and .937 save percentage that ranked fourth among all goalies.

Madden impressed as well, playing in all six games for the U.S. and tallying three goals and one assist. The Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team member was named the U.S. Player of the Game against Finland after scoring the eventual game-winner and a power play strike in the final game of the preliminary round.

Associate head coach Jerry Keefe was a part of the coaching staff on that 2019 team, serving as an assistant coach. Keefe oversaw Team USA's power play during tournament play, a unit that went 25.93% (7-of-27) and was good for second among all teams behind only the Czech Republic. As announced in April, Keefe will join Team USA for the 2020 Championship as an assistant coach for the second-straight year.
