SECAUCUS, N.J. – Authors of elite Northeastern baseball careers, junior pitcher Sean Mellen, senior pitcher Andrew Misiaszek and senior first basemen Jake Farrell were selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees, respectively, during Wednesday's third and final day of the 2019 MLB Draft, as broadcast via MLB.com.

Mellen was the Huskies' first name to come off the board during the 14th round, when the Dodgers selected him at 431st overall. With the selection, the NU southpaw became Northeastern's third highest left-handed pitcher ever to be chosen during the MLB June First-Year Player Draft, ranking behind Greg Montalbano (1999, 169th overall) and Paul Minton (1971, 313th overall).

Cleveland made its move for Misiaszek during the 32nd round at 970th overall, drafting its second Northeastern pitcher within the last four years (Aaron Civale – 2016). Seven rounds later, the Yankees used their penultimate pick in the draft to scoop up Farrell, adding an NU position player to their organization for the second consecutive year (Max Burt – 2018).

With three selections, Northeastern's 2019 MLB Draft class is tied with its 1965 class as the program's third largest of all-time. The Huskies have now produced multiple MLB Draft picks for the seventh time during the last nine years – a stretch that has witnessed four NU players go on to be selected during the top 15 rounds.

A two-time All-CAA selection, Mellen's 215 collegiate strikeouts rank in a tie for the ninth most during Northeastern history. The Norwood, Massachusetts, native tied the Huskies' single-season record for victories during their run to the 2018 NCAA tournament, winning 10 of his 13 starts that season, including a near no-hit performance at No. 17 Auburn. Across 189 career innings pitched, Mellen owns a 3.57 ERA in addition to his .196 opposing batting average.

Arguably Northeastern's greatest closing arm of all-time, Misiaszek departs the Huskies as the program leader in career saves (30), twice setting the single-season saves record (12) during 2018 and 2019. The Oceanside, New York, native logged 187 and two-thirds innings pitched across his four-year NU career, firing 203 strikeouts against 79 walks while crafting a 3.50 ERA.

Farrell leaves Northeastern as its all-time leader in career triples (16), ranking fourth in total bases (341) and among the Huskies' top 10 players in doubles (43). The Westwood, Massachusetts, native completed his collegiate career with a .303 batting average across his 178 games played, slugging .525 and entertaining a .373 on-base percentage.

The 2019 MLB Draft began on Monday, June 3, during which the opening two rounds and compensatory selections were held. Rounds three through 10 took place on Tuesday, June 4.
