LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --
Last week, the Northeastern women's hockey program had three participants at the Under 22 series in Lake Placid, N.Y. Aerin Frankel and Skylar Fontaine were invited to play for the United States, while Brooke Hobson appeared on the opposing bench for Canada.

The Under-22 series is a showcase that represents the best and brightest young talent the US and Canada has to offer. After participating in the USA Hockey National Festival the week before, a team of the best twenty-two players was invited to participate in an annual three-game series against Canada at the end of camp. This year the United States won the series 2-1 and all of the games featured performances by some of our talented Northeastern Huskies.

Player Breakdowns:

Aerin Frankel, Goaltender: Frankel was one of two goalies chosen to represent Team USA for the Under-22 team. She appeared in all three games, including backstopping the United States to a 4-2 win on Thursday with 20 saves. Throughout the exhibition, Frankel recorded just over 90 minutes between the pipes, posting a 2.65 goals against average and .879 save percentage (29 saves on 33 shots).

Skylar Fontaine, Defense: Fontaine had a solid weekend with an assist and six shots on goal for Team USA. Fontaine was back to her point-scoring ways as she helped ensure teammate Frankel secure the second victory against Canada on Thursday.

Brooke Hobson, Defense: Hobson helped contribute to a strong showing by the Canadian defense that allowed nine goals in three games. The junior blue-liner made the team after an outstanding showing at the Canadian camp.

Women's hockey begins its 2019-20 campaign at Union on Friday, Oct. 4 with the home opener for the Huskies on Sunday, Oct. 20 against Hockey East foe New Hampshire. With two opponents from the eight-team field of the NCAA tournament, the schedule for the Huskies will feature exciting competition.

The Huskies graduated only four seniors and will be returning a core group of players that will look to make a deep run this season. The Huskies nabbed 27 wins in 2018-19 to pair with a Hockey East regular season title, second straight conference tournament title and an NCAA tournament appearance for the third time in the last four years.

Women's hockey season tickets are available for adults for $60 and for youth, faculty and staff and young alumni for $40 by visiting NUHuskies.com/tickets.
