BOSTON— The No. 6 Northeastern women's hockey team travels to No. 4 Quinnipiac for a two-game series on Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. Both games will be played at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Conn. and will stream live on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- WE'VE GOT HISS-TORY: This marks the third-straight season Northeastern and Quinnipiac have met for a two-game series. The Bobcats own a 3-1-0 record in the recent four-game history of the series, and the Huskies have dropped the last three meetings. Junior Éloïse Caron and sophomore Stryker Zablocki return as the Huskies' leading point scorers against the Bobcats from last season, with both posting two points against QU. Caron rejoins the Huskies after attending Hockey Canada's Women's National Team Training Camp in Québec City from Oct. 8-14. Quinnipiac is off to a 5-0-0 start and has scored 25 goals this season, the second-best mark in the NCAA. Avery Bairos leads the Bobcats with five goals and Aynsley D'Ottavio leads with nine points. In goal, Natalia Dilbone (.50 GAA, .957 save percentage) and Casey Clausen (1.00 GAA, .955 save percentage) have split time.
- LIGHTNING STRYKES: Zablocki, the reigning Hockey East Player of the Year, became the first Husky since 2013 to record two shorthanded goals in a game when she did so at Providence on Oct. 9. She earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors after posting both of Northeastern's game-winning goals to open league play 2-0-0. Zablocki leads the Huskies with three goals and four points this season. Northeastern was 14-0-0 last season when she scored a goal and is 2-0-0 this season when she lights the lamp.
- HOPP SCHWIIZ: Sophomore Alessia Baechler and freshman Ivana Wey have been named to the Swiss Women's Euro Hockey Tour roster for the third stop in Södertälje, Sweden, from Oct. 28-31. They will be joined by Husky alum Alina Müller. The stop serves as the final tune-up for the Swiss national team ahead of the IIHF Women's World Championships in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark, from Nov. 6-16.
Northeastern will next travel to RIT for a two-game series beginning Friday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m.
