BROOKLINE, Mass.— Timothy Ennin drove home a penalty kick in the 110th minute of double overtime to lead the Northeastern men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Boston University Terriers. The double overtime victory extends the Huskies unbeaten streak to six matches.
After a relatively quiet first half of action from the Huskies (5-2-1, 2-0-1 CAA) and the Terriers (0-7-1, 0-1-0 PL),
Ryan Massoud had one of the best chances for either side as he created some space for himself outside of the box and fired a shot that sailed just high.
Just three minutes into the second half, the Terriers gained possession in front of Northeastern's goal and
Noah Abrams came up with a big save to keep the score level at 0-0.
The score remained knotted at 0-0 until the second overtime period where the Terriers were whistled for a foul in their own box. Redshirt-freshman
Timothy Ennin stepped up to take the PK for the Huskies and buried in the lower left-hand corner to give the Huskies the 1-0 victory.
Abrams finished with six saves on the evening, a career-high, for his third win of the year. The Huskies outshot BU, 16-9 with 10 shots on goal to the Terriers' six.
