Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early goal leads UNCW past Huskies

WILMINGTON, N.C.— The Northeastern women's soccer team fell 2-0 to UNCW, with the Huskies suffering their first loss of a young CAA season at the UNCW Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Just six minutes into the game, Northeastern (4-7-0, 1-1-0 CAA) went down a man as goalkeeper Megan Adams was issued a red card for using her hands outside of the box. UNCW (5-4-0, 1-1-0 CAA) was given a freekick and Morgan Nanni scored on the ensuing play as Angeline Friel came on in goal for Adams.

Chelsea Domond had one of the best looks for the Huskies in the first half, dribbling the ball up on the left side of the field all the way into the box, before firing off a shot that UNCW's keeper got a hand on to push wide.

In the second half, the Huskies came out dominating possession, but Jordan Faveri got a breakaway and finished in the back of the net in the 64th minute to put the Seahawks up 2-0.

Northeastern and UNCW each finished with eight shots, with Domond owning four of the Huskies' shot attempts. Goalkeeper Angeline Friel finished with one save in 84:07 of game action.
