RICHMOND, Va.— After a four-point outing in the 6-0 win over Towson, junior defender
Mikenna McManus of the Northeastern women's soccer team has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday.
Â
The honor is the first time McManus has been named a Defensive Player of the Week by the CAA. McManus posted four points in the shutout over Towson in the Huskies CAA opener, as she contributed one goal and two assists. Additionally, McManus played a full 90 minutes in the loss at UNCW.
Â
Against Towson, McManus's goal was the first of her career and came as she tracked down a rebound off a save from the Towson keeper and slipped it into the lower left-hand side of the goal. It was the first match of her career where she recorded both a goal and an assist and the second time of her career, she had a multi-assist outing.
Â
McManus and the Huskies are back in action at Parsons Field on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. against Hofstra.
