FORT MYERS, Fla.— The Northeastern women's soccer team fell to Florida Gulf Coast, 2-0, Sunday evening at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

FGCU (2-2-0) struck early in the first half, when Evdokia Popadinova nailed one just under the crossbar to put the Eagles up, 1-0, in the 20th minute. Junior Chelsea Domond had the best chance of the first half for Northeastern (2-3-0), beating a couple of FGCU defenders and forcing the keeper to make a diving save.

The Eagles put another goal on the board late in the second half, off a set piece with Ashlee Brentlinger knocking it in off a rebounded save in the 81st minute, to make the score 2-0. Senior Kerri Zerfoss had the best chance of the second half for the Huskies, forcing the Eagle's keeper to make another diving save across the goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Angeline Friel was credited with three saves in her 90 minutes of action, but made several gutsy plays to prevent FGCU from getting looks on goal.
