Mide Oriyomi on Friday night, the Northeastern women's basketball team was unable to complete its three-quarter comeback at Towson as the Huskies were handed the 81-68 defeat at SECU Arena.

Making her fifth start of the season, sophomore guard
Kendall Currence provided the Huskies with 12 points while junior guard
Stella Clark added 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Senior guard
Shannon Todd drilled three triples for NU on her way to nine points, five rebounds and two steals.

Northeastern (8-9, 4-2 CAA) dug itself out from a 15-point deficit during the second quarter, turning in a 9-0 run before trimming the hosts' lead to 26-22 with 5:58 to play. Although Towson (9-8, 4-2 CAA) soon managed to reclaim its double-digit lead, the Huskies closed within 38-32 by halftime, outscoring the Tigers in the paint, 14-2, during the second quarter.

Clark connected on the game-tying jumper with 7:15 remaining in the third quarter, bringing Northeastern level with Towson at 42-42. However, Nukiya Mayo responded immediately at the other end of the floor, triggering the Tigers' 23-5 run that closed the quarter and put NU behind, 65-47.

Northeastern scored during each of its first four possessions of the fourth quarter, staging the 12-2 scoring run to trim Towson's lead to 67-59, but did not draw any closer.

Mayo led the Tigers with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Kionna Jeter and Q. Murray finished with 16 points apiece. Jeter added seven rebounds, five assists and four steals to her line.
