BOSTON – Led by its undefeated League of Legends team and its No. 2 nationally ranked Hearthstone squad, the Northeastern esports program compiled another set of strong performances last week against elite competition.

No. 2 HEARTHSTONE  //  12-6 overall
Vaulting to No. 2 in the College Hearthstone Observer national rankings on Oct. 13, Northeastern won two of its three matches last week across both Tespa divisions.

Seeking their first win of the Tespa Varsity Division campaign, the Huskies came through on Tuesday with the 3-1 victory against Kent State Columbiana County. Entering Swiss round four, NU is seeded 27th in the premier field, but has ground to make up should it look to qualify for the 16-team playoffs.

Following its Oct. 12 Tespa Open Division victory against the amateur side, Poutine, Northeastern witnessed its four-match event winning streak come to an end on Thursday against No. 3 Penn State (3-1). The Huskies head into Swiss round eight seeded 13th in the field of more than 130 programs and can clinch placement into the 32-team regional playoffs with a victory on Monday against Waterloo.

ROCKET LEAGUE  //  12-7 overall
Facing elite competition on the Collegiate Rocket League (CRL) national stage, Northeastern contested a series of hard-fought matches during the second week of Eastern Conference play.

In front of a national audience on Tuesday's RocketLeague Twitch steam, the Huskies won a high-scoring opening game during their match against South Florida (Green), capping it with an overtime winner by Floms (Flo Astie). Despite earning the 1-0 lead, NU was unable to build on its momentum as the Bulls rallied to win the match, 3-1.

Northeastern challenged South Florida (Gold) during Tuesday's CRL nightcap, winning games two and three before conceding the match in five games. On Saturday, the Huskies were unable to hold onto their 2-0 lead against Northern Virginia Community College, receiving the 3-2 defeat.

Entering the third week of CRL Eastern Conference action, Northeastern (0-5) will look to chase down the contenders as it progresses against the league's elite competition. The Huskies are scheduled to oppose Wisconsin-Platteville live on Twitch via CollegeCarball on Thursday night at 8:50 p.m.

Due the accommodation of its CRL schedule, Northeastern was forced into forfeiting Tuesday's NACE Rocket League Fall Cup matches against Penn College and Mount St. Joseph. At the start of the week, the Huskies are one of four teams who co-lead the Group L standings with 10 points (five wins).
