BOSTON – Elevating an experienced crew from its club League of Legends team, the Northeastern esports program unveiled on Friday the fourth of its four inaugural varsity rosters as the Huskies' fall 2020 slate of competitions presses on.
 
With a wealth of carryovers from its talented club roster – including two seniors and two juniors – the 10-member NU squad is already living up to its potential in the ancillary College League of Legends Fall Invitational (hosted by RiotGames and PlayVS). Having commenced on Tuesday, the event serves as a fall tune-up to the title's sanctioned winter/spring 2021 collegiate campaign.
 
Northeastern earned the No. 1 seed in the Esports Collegiate (ESC) conference qualifying bracket, which features nine entries from the 12-member ESC – the independent esports conference founded by the NCAA's Mid-American Conference. At minimum, one team from the ESC region will garner placement into the 32-team national invitational field later this fall.
 
The ESC top-seeded Huskies will make their varsity debut in the region quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they oppose eighth-seeded Central Michigan at 7 p.m.
