BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Gunnarwolfe Fontaine scored his first two collegiate goals and added an assist, while
Ty Jackson and
Riley Hughes tallied goals to lead No. 11 Northeastern (3-1-1, 3-1-1) to a 4-1 win over Vermont (0-3-0, 0-3-0) on Saturday inside Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Huskies doubled the Catamounts up in shots, 40-20, and scored three power-play goals.
Captain
Zach Solow had two assists for the 11th-ranked Huskies and
Connor Murphy stopped 19-of-20 shots on the night to earn his third win between the pipes. Adding helpers for Northeastern were
Jordan Harris,
Grant Jozefek,

Jayden Struble and
Julian Kislin.
Hughes started the scoring for the Huskies in the first period on a one-timer from the top of the circle on a nice feed from
Dylan Jackson and Struble on the power play.
Ty Jackson then put Northeastern up 2-0 in the first period, as he deked the Vermont goaltender off to the side of the net from Fontaine and Kislin.
Fontaine delivered in the second period for the Huskies, tallying a pair of power-play goals on beautiful passes from Solow to put NU up 4-0 after two periods. The Catamounts would spoil the shutout bid for Murphy in the third period on a one-timer from Cornell transfer Tristan Mullin on the power play.
These two teams will battle again tomorrow night inside Gutterson Fieldhouse. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub (
