BOSTON – Off the stick of sophomore defenseman Jordan Harris, the No. 12 Northeastern men's hockey team won its third consecutive Beanpot championship and its seventh during program history on Monday night at TD Garden, defeating Boston University with 5:07 remaining in double overtime. Per NCAA rules, Monday's title game will officially be recorded as a 4-4 tie, as both teams remained deadlocked after the first five-minute overtime period.

Junior center Zach Solow collected Most Valuable Player honors after potting goals during each of the Huskies' two Beanpot victories. Fifth-year goaltender Craig Pantano was named the Eberly Award winner for achieving the tournament's best save percentage, recording 40 saves during the entirety of Monday's championship game – 30 of which will stand officially per NCAA rules.

Northeastern (15-8-3) won its first game of the 2019-20 season after trailing by two or more goals as Boston University (10-9-8) struck twice during the opening eight minutes of play.

Down 2-0 at the intermission, the Huskies turned the tables on BU during the second period, where Northeastern erupted for four goals. Aidan McDonough assisted on Tyler Madden's goal at the 2:53 mark to start the NU comeback, then knotted the score off his own stick less than three minutes later.

Solow and Grant Jozefek each posted power play goals to close out the second period as Northeastern carried the 4-2 lead into the intermission. However, BU bookended the third period with two unanswered goals, stunning the Huskies with an extra-attacker goal that crossed the line with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation.

Pantano and Northeastern weathered five BU shots on goal during the five-minute overtime period before the game progressed into the tournament's traditional 20-minute overtime format.
