BOSTON— The Hockey East regular season champion No. 4 Northeastern women's hockey team will host the No. 8 seed Vermont Catamounts for a best-of-three series in the Hockey East quarterfinals at Matthews Arena. Game one is set for Thursday at 1 p.m., game two is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. and game three (if necessary) is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. Game one and two of the series will be televised live on NESN.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. Playoff History: Northeastern has captured two consecutive Hockey East tournament titles. The Huskies have hosted the quarterfinal round eight years in a row, dating back to 2013 and the Huskies have advanced to the semifinals each year since 2011. In each of the past two tournaments, Aerin Frankel was named the Tournament MVP and she owns an 8-0-0 record in the tournament. Head coach Dave Flint owns a 20-8-0 record and has guided the Huskies to two titles.

  2. Huskies vs. Catamounts: The Huskies swept the regular season series with the Catamounts, scoring 18 goals over three games and conceding just four. Northeastern owns a 3-0-0 record in the Hockey East tournament against Vermont, besting them in a best-of-three series last season at Matthews Arena. Blueliner Maude Poulin-Labelle leads the Catamounts with 29 points off 12 goals and 17 assists. Poulin-Labelle's 29 points rank second in Hockey East scoring for a defenseman behind Northeastern's Skylar Fontaine (34). Between the pipes, Blanka Skodova has seen the bulk of time for the Catamounts. She owns a 2.43 GAA and .894 save percentage.

  3. A Tale of Two Top-10 Finalists: Sophomore forward Alina Mueller and junior goaltender Aerin Frankel were named top-10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award – presented annually to the top player in Division I women's ice hockey. Mueller and Frankel are the first Northeastern duo since 2002 and just the third overall pair to be named to the top-10 in the same season.
