BOSTON – Beginning its national title defense, the Northeastern Hearthstone team compiled a 4-2 record across two competitions during the opening week of the fall 2020 season, making a semifinal splash at the Knights Invitational (as hosted by Arcadia University).

KNIGHTS INVITATIONAL (3-1)
Entering the Knights Invitational as the No. 1 seed, the Huskies moved comfortably through the double-elimination Group B Bracket, following their 3-0 win against Akron with their 3-2 victory against Drexel. NU began Sunday's knockout stage with its 3-1, quarterfinal win against Saint Peter's prior to dropping its hard-fought semifinal match against Lebanon Valley, 3-2.

TESPA OPEN DIVISION (1-1)
After beginning its Tespa Open Division schedule on Monday with a 3-0 win against Buffalo, Northeastern – ranked by
College Hearthstone Observer as the No. 1 program in the nation – played to a competitive defeat on Thursday against its sibling team, Northeastern Red.

With a 1-1 record, the Huskies will contest the third and fourth rounds of the Open Division regular season on Monday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Oct. 1. Both match times are scheduled for 7 p.m. As played under a Swiss format, opponents are unknown until completion of the previous round's matches.
TESPA VARSITY DIVISION (0-0)
Northeastern will begin defense of its Tespa Varsity Division title on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. As played under a Swiss format, season-opening opponents are unknown until completion of the seeding process.
