CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Junior forward
Aidan McDonough scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season but No. 18 Northeastern men's hockey (2-2-0, 0-1-0 Hockey East) couldn't withstand a third period surge by No. 6 Boston College (3-0-1, 1-0-0 Hockey East) as they fell 5-3Â to the Eagles on Friday night at Conte Forum.
- McDonough struck twice in the second, with the first goal coming at 1:54 from Dylan Jackson (3) as he slid the puck to the slot on a 3-on-2 break where McDonough was able to bury it in the top corner.
- The second goal was a product of the Jackson twins as they dug the puck out of the neutral zone and found McDonough, who carried it in and fired over the Boston College goaltender's glove to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead at 5:20 in the second. He was assisted by Dylan Jackson 3) and Ty Jackson (4).
- Freshman forward Matt Choupani scored an unassisted power-play goal in the final minute of the game. It was his second of the season.
- Huskies sophomore goaltender Devon Levi made 32 saves on the night.
- NU was outshot 37-22 on the evening and lost the faceoff battle 40-27.Â
- Four Huskies tallied three shots each, including McDonough, Ty Jackson, freshman forward Jack Hughes and sophomore forward Sam Colangelo.
The Huskies will return to Boston next weekend as they play Colorado College for the first time since October 10, 2010 on Saturday, October 23 at Matthews Arena at 7Â p.m. and can be seen on NESN+.
