Nina Dooley scored in the 36th minute and junior goalkeeper
Angeline Friel earned a shutout to lead Northeastern women's soccer (8-8-1, 5-4-0 CAA) in a 1-0 victory over William & Mary (4-9-3, 2-4-3 CAA) on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Huskies have earned the fourth seed in the 2021 CAA Women's Soccer Championships in Elon, N.C. This is the 11th season in a row the Huskies have qualified for the CAA Championships.
- Dooley's goal was a strike from outside the box that hit the crossbar before settling in the net, her first of the season.
- Friel made three saves to accompany the shutout, her third of the season. The Huskies have now shut out opponents eight times.
- The back line of graduate students Mikenna McManus and Julianne Ross, junior Jane Kaull and sophomore Faith Rosenblatt all played 90 minutes to anchor the Huskies.
- NU was outshot by a margin of 10-6 but still made the most of their chances and played solid defense to earn the win.
With the regular season concluding, the Huskies will now travel to Elon, N.C. to take on No. 1 seed UNC Wilmington on Thursday, November 4 in the CAA Championships.
