DURHAM, N.H. – Aidan McDonough had a hat trick,
Zach Solow added three assists and
Michael Kesselring had two goals to lead the No. 18 Huskies (7-5-2) in a 6-2 win over New Hampshire (5-11-2) on Friday night inside the Whittemore Center. This is the first hat trick for Northeastern since
Tyler Madden vs. Maine last season (11/22/19).
All three of McDonough's goals were on the power play and he's the first Northeastern player to accomplish this feat since Cody Ferriero at Harvard (12/29/12). McDonough now has six goals on the season. Solow's three points put him at 97 for his career as he inches closer in becoming the 53rd Northeastern player to reach 100 career points. He leads the Huskies with 17 points.
Kesselring had his first multi-goal game of his career while
Jordan Harris had two assists along with
Grant Jozefek and
Matt DeMelis.
Riley Hughes left the ice with a goal and assist and
Dylan Jackson and
Tyler Spott each tallied one helper.
Connor Murphy stopped 21 for his seventh career win. Northeastern's top-ranked power play stayed hot scoring on four-of-six chances, while the Huskies third ranked penalty kill in Hockey East was perfect stopping all four New Hampshire power plays.
Northeastern will host New Hampshire tomorrow night to complete the home-and-home series at 6 p.m. inside Matthews Arena. Saturday's game will be televised on NESN+ and can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub (HD2).
