BOSTON – Aidan McDonough scored two goals including the game winner with just under four minutes left and had an assist,
Jordan Harris had three assists,
Zach Solow had a goal and an assist and
Grant Jozefek had two assists to help lead No.18 Northeastern (8-5-2) to a 5-4 win and weekend home-and-home sweep over New Hampshire (5-12-2) on Saturday Night inside Matthews Arena.
McDonough ended the weekend with five goals and six points while raising his season goals to eight and points to 14.
Michael Kesselring also lit the lamp for the Huskies and had three goals in the home-and-home series this weekend while upping his total to four on the season.
Gunnarwolfe Fontaine added his fifth goal of the season and is currently tied for third in freshman scoring in Hockey East behind teammate
Dylan Jackson, who is tied for second.
Solow tallied his eighth goal and is now one point shy of 100 career points as he looks to be the 53
rd Husky to reach this feat.
Tyler Spott and
Johnny DeRoche also had assists on the night while
Connor Murphy stopped 20 on the way to his eighth win.
The Huskies took a 4-0 lead in the game with some help from two power play goals from Hockey East's top power play unit. The Huskies ended the night 2-for-4 with the extra man and 8-for-15 in the three games against New Hampshire this season while outscoring the Wildcats a combined 18-6 .
Northeastern looks to keep the win streak going in Hockey East play this upcoming week.
