No. 3 Northeastern Takes Down UNH 6-1

  Durham, N.H. - Megan Carter and Chloe Aurard notched two goals for the Huskies, while Aerin Frankel made 23 saves to lead No. 3 Northeastern (14-1-1 HEA) to a 6-1 win over New Hampshire (6-12-1 HEA) on Saturday afternoon at the Whittemore Center Arena. The Huskies are on a nation-best 14-game unbeaten streak (13-0-1). 

Katy Knoll and Alina Mueller also tallied goals for the Huskies as NU outshout the Wildcats by a 41-24 margin. Maureen Murphy added two helpers for the afternoon, while Brooke Hobson, Mueller, Aurard and Skylar Fontaine each added one.

The Huskies kickstarted the game early as Mueller lit the lamp just under three minutes into the game. Aurard found the back of the net under 10 minutes later and Carter scored her first of two goals for the lone goal in the second period as the Huskies led 3-0 after two periods of play. The Wildcats scored at the 5:46 minute mark of the third period, but the Huskies responded with three goals in just 1:04 including just 24 seconds in-between the fifth and sixth goals by Carter and Aurard to win by five.

The Huskies will return to battle the Wildcats inside Matthews Arena or a 5 p.m. on NESN. Northeastern will recognize Veronika Pettey in her final game for the Huskies at home before the puck drop.
