WAKEFIELD, Mass.— No. 20 Northeastern's
Aidan McDonough has earned the PNC Bank Three Stars Award announced by the league office on Thursday. This award commemorates his dominant play over the course of the season.
McDonough earned 11 of his 20 points in the month of February earning him Army ROTC Co-Player of the Month. During this time he notched seven goals and four assists including his first career hat trick and also had a shootout game winner against Providence College. The 6-foot-2 forward ranks second for the Huskies in points with 20, splitting it even with 10 goals and 10 assists. McDonough leads Hockey East in power play goals with six and is tied for fourth in goal scoring.
This is the Milton, Mass. natives third Hockey East award this season after also being named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week (
story) in February. McDonough has tallied at least one point in his last four games played with two goals and four assists.
McDonough is the first Husky to receive this award since
Cayden Primeau in 2019 and the sixth Husky overall.
Northeastern takes on UMass in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. inside Mullins Center. The game will be televised on NESN+ and heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub (HD2).
