McDonough Earns Hockey East Co-Player of the Week Honors

WAKEFIELD, Mass.— No. 18 Northeastern's Aidan McDonough has been named Hockey East's Co-Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday. McDonough led the Huskies with five goals in the weekend sweep over UNH. The 6-foot-2 forward notched his first career hat trick on Friday night in a 6-2 win (story) with three power play goals and was the first Husky to accomplish that feat since Cody Ferriero had three power play goals in a game at Harvard (12/29/12). It was also the Huskies first hat trick since Tyler Madden vs. Maine last season (11/22/19). He would tally another power play goal during Saturday's 5-4 win (story) along with scoring the game winning goal with just under four minutes left in the third period. McDonough added an assist as well for a career-high six points in a weekend series.

This is the Milton, Mass. natives first career Hockey East Player of the Week award. The Vancouver Canucks draft pick now has eight goals and six assists putting him at third on the team for points with 14 and he's tied for the lead in Hockey East with five power play goals.

This is the sixth Hockey East award for the Huskies this season. Junior Jordan Harris was named Hockey East Player of the Week on December 14th and sophomore Connor Murphy was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on January 18th. Freshmen Gunnarwolfe Fontaine was named Hockey East's Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on December 28th while Dylan Jackson had the same award on January 11th and was named Hockey East's Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month for January.
