HARRISONBURG, Va. - Jahmyl Telfort poured in a career-high 30 points and Tyson Walker finished with 23 points, five assists and three steals as No. 2 seed Northeastern (10-9) dropped a tough 74-67 semifinal game to No. 6 seed Drexel (11-7) in the Hercules Tires CAA Men's Basketball Championship on Monday at Atlantic Union Bank Center. The Dragons shot 52 percent (26-for-50) in the game, while the Huskies shot 41 percent (26-for-63).

The 30 points by Telfort matched a tournament record by a Husky player, tying Vasa Pusica's 30 in the 2018 championship game against College of Charleston (3/6/18). Walker reached double figures for the 16th consecutive game and 18-of-19 this year.

The Dragons used a 14-4 run late in the first half to take their first lead, grabbing a 34-29 advantage at the half. Drexel extended its lead in the first four minutes of the second half with an 11-3 run as the Huskies were down, 45-32 (17:03). Northeastern fought back with an effective zone defense, turning the Dragons over and outscoring Drexel 20-8 in nearly 11 minutes to get within one, 53-52 (6:21).

Drexel's Mate Okros buried back-to-back 3-pointers and James Butler buried a triple as the shot clock expired to dash any hopes of the Huskies' comeback. The shorthanded NU squad fought hard until the end, getting within five with 52 seconds left, but the Dragons went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line to close out the game.

Zach Walton led four Drexel players in double figures with 15 points, and Butler posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Camren Wynter tallied 14 points and four assists.

The Huskies won their fourth CAA regular-season championship with an 8-2 record and advanced to the CAA tournament semifinals for the fourth straight season. Head Coach Bill Coen won his 251st game in the quarterfinals, surpassing Jim Calhoun (1972-86) for the most wins at Northeastern.
