Kislin, McDonough and Hughes Named Assistant Captains

BOSTON - Senior defenseman Julian Kislin and junior forwards Aidan McDonough and Riley Hughes have been named assistant captains for the 2021-22 Northeastern men's hockey season, announced by Fernie Flaman Head Men's Hockey Coach Jim Madigan on Thursday

Kislin, a vital member of the Huskies defense, has appeared in 76 games, tallying 15 assists and 66 blocks. The Manalapan, N.J. native recorded a career-high three assists in the Beanpot Championship game vs. Boston University on the way to Northeastern's third straight Beanpot title. 

McDonough, a Vancouver Canucks draft pick, played in 21 games for the Huskies notching 10 goals and 10 assists last season. The Milton, Mass. native earned Hockey East Co-Player of the Week, Army ROTC Co-Player of the Month and the PNC Bank Three Stars Award for his strong performance all season including notching his first career hat trick and leading Hockey East in power play goals.

Hughes, a New York Rangers draft pick, put up a career-high six goals and four assists last season. The Westwood, Mass. native was fourth on the team in goals and third in power play goals this past season.

Earlier this offseason, Jordan Harris was named captain of the 2021-22 team (story). Harris, a Montreal Canadiens draft pick, averaged a point per game last season and finished third in Hockey East defenseman scoring (6-13-19) despite playing in six less games than the two ahead of him who were tied for first with 20 points a piece. The rising senior was fourth in power play points (4-7-11) and the point man of the best power play in Hockey East and fourth best in the nation at 26.9%.
