BROOKLINE, Mass. - Junior goalkeeper
Angeline Friel made a career-high 14 saves, the most by a Northeastern goalkeeper in over a decade, but the Huskies (3-3-1) fell to No. 19 Harvard (5-0-1) by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday evening at Parsons Field.
- The Crimson opened up the scoring in the 12th minute on a through-ball to Murphy Agnew.
- Northeastern responded in the 24th minute on a penalty kick won by junior forward Halle McCabe; graduate student Mikenna McManus (2) stepped up to bury to PK into the lower right corner of the net to knot the game up.
- Graduate student Megan Adams started the game in net for the Huskies and made two saves in her 18 minutes of play.
- Harvard tried to put the game away in the second half tallying 15 total shots, but the Northeastern defense led by Friel held off the attack to force overtime.
- The Northeastern defense held strong until the 105th minute when the Crimson converted on a corner kick.
- Friel finished with 14 saves, the most recorded since at least 2009 for a Husky goalkeeper.
Northeastern will take a short road trip to Providence for a Sunday afternoon contest on September 19th with Brown at 1p.m. After beginning conference play on the road, the Huskies will return home on Sunday, October 3rd, for a CAA contest with UNCW. Kick off is at 12:00 p.m. on
