BROOKLINE, Mass. - In its final non-conference match of the season, the Northeastern men's soccer team (4-8-3) overcame a one-goal deficit against Boston University (4-4-6) to take a 2-1 victory at Parsons Field on Tuesday evening. Trailing midway through the second half, goals from
Harry Sankey (1) and
Fraser Brown (2) were enough to propel the Huskies to a come-from-behind victory.
- The first half finished scoreless with shots even at 5-5 total. Northeastern had two chances on target, BU had one.
- The Terriers came out firing in the second with a goal just two minutes into the half, tucking one into the bottom right corner of the net in the 47th minute for the 1-0 lead.
- Northeastern came back to tie the game in the 62nd minute on a long throw in from freshman Morris Matthews. He found Ole Kjørholt in the box who continued it along to Harry Sankey with a header. Sankey fired the loose ball past the BU keeper to tie the game at 1-1. It was Sankey's first goal of the 2022 campaign.
- For the fourth time this season, the Huskies found the back of the net in the final 10 minutes of play, this time to take the lead for good in the 86th minute. It was freshman Fraser Brown with his second career goal, and second game-winning goal of the season, tipping in a curled corner kick from Federico Tellez.
- Goalkeeper Colby Hegarty stopped three of the four shots he faced in net for his fourth win of the season.
- The win snaps a five-game losing skid for the Huskies, and is their first multi-goal game since the win over Harvard.
The Huskies have two games left in the 2022 regular season, both of which will be crucial in CAA conference play. The Huskies host William & Mary this Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. for the team's Senior Day and Alumni Day. The following Saturday, October 29, the Huskies travel to Delaware for the regular season finale against Delaware. Both games will stream on FloFC.
