BROOKLINE, Mass.— Behind a nine-save effort from graduate student goalkeeper
Holland Stam, the Northeastern women's soccer team defeated the Hofstra Pride, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Parsons Field.
- Freshman Vivian Akyirem continued her stellar season with her sixth goal of the year to put the Huskies (5-4-3, 2-1-1 CAA) up 1-0 over Hofstra (6-5-2, 1-2-1 CAA) in the 24th minute. Freshman Lauren Ahles and senior Jane Kaull each assisted on the goal, Ahles' assist marked her first career NCAA point.
- The Pride would even the score at 1-1 just over 13 minutes later with a tally from Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir.
- The game-winning goal came from junior Jessie Hunt, who scored from the penalty spot for her first career goal.
- Stam had nine saves on the day including two highlight worthy saves in the second half to preserve the Huskies' win.
The Huskies will hit the road to take on William & Mary on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
