WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— With three different goal scorers on the night, the Northeastern women's soccer team defeated the William & Mary Tribe, 3-2, on Thursday evening. The win marks the Huskies (6-4-3, 3-1-1 CAA) third CAA victory in a row.
- Senior Alexis Legowski opened the scoring in the 24th minute, cleaning up a William & Mary defensive miscue to give Northeastern a 1-0 lead. Junior Jessie Hunt and senior Jane Kaull claimed assists on the goal.
- Just 49 seconds later, freshman Vivian Akyirem scored her seventh goal of the season to put the Huskies up 2-0. Hunt claimed her second assist of the night and her eighth of the season. Hunt's eight assists rank second in single-season history for a Northeastern player.
- Before the first half ended, William & Mary got one back to bring the score to 2-1, still in favor of the Huskies.
- In the second half, junior Rose Kaefer scored her first goal of the season, and eventual game-winner, in stunning fashion in the 66th minute. Kaull claimed her second assist of the night on the goal.
- Before the clock struck zero, the Tribe scored once more to push the final score to 3-2.
- Graduate student goalkeeper Holland Stam finished her night with four saves.
Northeastern will next face Hampton on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. in a neutral site match in Williamsburg.
