BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Northeastern men's soccer team (3-6-3, 2-3-1 CAA) fell to the Monmouth Hawks (6-4-0, 2-4-0 CAA) by a score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Parsons Field.
- The Huskies held a large majority of the first half possession, which led them to a 3-0 shot advantage after one, 1-0 on target. The Huskies had a strong scoring chance at the end of the third minute with a tipped ball by Timothy Ennin, but a team save was able to eliminate the Huskies' scoring threat.
- Both teams came out firing to start the second half - graduate student Jacob Marin-Thomson got in on goal but his close-ranged shot on the right post was saved by Monmouth.
- Monmouth got their goal just over five minutes into second half on a shot from the 18.
- Northeastern once again played the possession game, finishing the game with 62% percent of the possession.
- The Huskies forced another Monmouth save with a shot from Federico Tellez in the 57th minute. Monmouth would not allow another shot on target for the remainder of the half.
- Despite just two shots on target, the Huskies belted eight total shots in the second half, several of which were blocked or sailed just wide.
- Colby Hegarty finished the game making two saves to keep the Huskies within one.
Northeastern travels north for their Tuesday non-conference matchup with New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. on October 11. That game kicks off at 6pm on ESPN+.
