POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE
BOSTON – The No. 18/16 Northeastern Huskies went extra time with the No. 11/9 Boston University Terriers, falling 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night.
- Both teams controlled the puck evenly throughout the first period, but the Terriers were able to find the net first in the opening six minutes of the game on a goal from Domenick Fensore.
- With the second period underway, the Huskies tied things up just 4:53 into the frame thanks to Gunnarwolfe Fontaine. As Northeastern's charge was led up the ice by Aidan McDonough and Justin Hryckowian, the Rhode Island native buried one past the Terriers for a 1-1 game.
- One goal was not enough for the Huskies as they took a lead, 2-1, just over halfway through the game. After firing a shot off the post, McDonough sniped a one timer off a pass from Hryckowian for his fifth power-play goal of the season.
- Before the period conclude, the Terriers found a way to tie things at 2-2 as Matt Brown tallied a goal.
- The battle only continued at the beginning of the final frame. Breaking the tie, Sam Colangelo tallied his third of the season off a redirect out front. The freshman defensive pair Hunter McDonald and Jackson Dorrington were credited with the assists.
- The Terriers put us back in a standstill just three minutes later as they broke loose for a goal by Ryan Greene, sending the game to overtime, where Lane Hutson would seal the deal for Boston University.
The Huskies will travel to Nashville, Tenn. next week for a Thanksgiving holiday contest at the 2022 Music City Hockey Classic. Northeastern will face off against the Western Michigan Broncos on Friday, Nov. 25 at Bridgestone Arena, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
