Northeastern Falls to No. 18 Clemson in Game Two

CLEMSON, S.C. -
The Northeastern baseball team (6-7-1, 0-0 CAA) fell to the No. 18-ranked Clemson Tigers (14-0, 0-0 ACC) by a score of 10-4 on Saturday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. 

Northeastern scored first and battled through the first three innings but Clemson took a steady lead after scoring three runs in the fifth inning. 
  • Corey DiLoreto would single to the left side and eventually got driven home by Luke Beckstein's RBI single to give the Huskies an early 1-0 lead.
  • Clemson drove two home in the bottom second to take the lead before the Huskies retired the side and to get out of the inning. 
  • The Tigers would then tack on another run in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 3-1.
  • Mike Sirota started off the fourth inning with a single to center field to get the Huskies on base early. Sirota stole second and Max Viera doubled to left center driving home Sirota cutting the Huskies deficit to one run.
  • The Tigers then put another on the board on an 0-2 pitch on Clemson's third RBI-single of the day.
  • Keane finished the day striking out five batters in 4.1 innings pitched. Dennis Colleran stepped on the bump for Northeastern in the bottom five.
  • Clemson dominated the fifth inning taking a 7-2 lead over Northeastern.
  • Justin Bosland walked in the sixth and Sirota followed it up with his second homer of the season.
  • Nick Davis entered the game in the bottom seventh tacking on a K early, but gave up a homer to left field giving the Tigers a 10-4 lead.
  • Matt Devlin made his first appearance as a Husky notching two strikeouts in the eighth. 
The Huskies and Tigers will face off for the last time on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
