BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Northeastern Huskies (19-21-1) fell to the no. 15-ranked UConn Huskies (33-8) in extra innings at Friedman Diamond on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 5-2.

The home Huskies led by two runs through the middle innings, but the visiting Huskies tied the game up in the seventh and took their only lead of the day in the top of the 10
th.

- With a runner on second and two outs, UConn hit a deep infield hit to Danny Crossen between second and third base – he had no play at first but spotted the runner trying to round third and take home and threw home to Teddy Beaudet to keep UConn off the board.
- Northeastern drew first blood in the bottom of the fourth – a leadoff walk and HBP gave NU two early base runners in Spenser Smith and Max Viera. After a foul out advanced Smith to third, Viera stole second to put two runners in scoring position.
- Smith ran home for the first run of the afternoon on a wild pitch, which also sent Viera to third. Viera was then score on a sacrifice RBI bunt by Danny Crossen to make it 2-0.
- UConn responded in the top of the seventh with two unearned runs, one on an RBI single and one on a fielding error, tying the game at 2-2.
- The NU defense flourished in the top of the eighth with two strikeouts sandwiching a highlight-reel foul fly ball caught by Jeff Costello over the barricade on the first base side.
- UConn took its first and only lead of the game in the top of the 10th on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch followed by a two-RBI single to left field.
- The Northeastern pitching staff totaled 14 strikeouts on the day between the five pitchers used – the staff was led by starter Jordy Allard (4.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 4 K's) and Nick Davis (3.0 IP, 2 hits, 2 runs, career-high 6 K's).

The Huskies stay home for the week with four more home games  starting Wednesday at 3pm when they host Hartford at Friedman Diamond.
