BROOKLINE, Mass. - Down by a goal with two minutes left in the game, Northeastern men's soccer sophomore forward
Sebastian Restrepo took a free kick from just outside the box and found the top corner of the net to give the Huskies (1-1-3, 1-0-1 CAA) a 1-1 draw with the Drexel Dragons (2-1-2, 1-0-1 CAA)Â on Saturday evening at Parsons Field.
- Both teams tallied their goals in the second half, after a lack of offensive chances in the first. The Dragons tallied the only two shots on goal of the first half, both saved by Colby Hegarty.
- The Huskies were awarded a penalty kick in the 73rd minute, but the shot attempted went off the post and the subsequent shot was saved.
- Drexel got on the board on their very next offensive chance, getting a penalty call of their own and converting on the shot to lead 1-0 in the 76th minute.
- Restrepo (2) was subbed on after the goal and got his chance in the 88th minute on a free kick from 25 yards out. He struck the ball and tucked it in the upper left corner for the late equalizer.
- The Huskies out-shot the Dragons in the second half 12-4 (3-3 on net). In total, the Huskies took 14 shots, a season high, to Drexel's six.
- Hegarty finished the evening with four saves.
- Northeastern is now 1-0-1 in conference, with four points. They sit tied with Drexel atop the CAA table, waiting on results of three 7 p.m. match ups.Â
The Huskies wrap up their three-game home stand this Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. hosting non-conference foe Harvard. That game will be broadcast on NESN+ and FloFC.
