No. 19 Northeastern Tops Bentley, 5-2, During Family Weekend

BOSTON, Mass. -- The No. 19 Northeastern men's hockey team won their second game of the season, defeating the Bentley Falcons, 5-2, on Saturday night in their lone weekend contest.
  • Graduate-student Liam Walsh kicked off the scoring efforts for the Huskies, potting his second goal in as many games. The Pennsylvania native would finish with two points on the night (1g, 1a).
  • Sophomore Jack Williams put the Huskies up 2-0 just :58 seconds into the second period, assisted by senior Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and sophomore Cam Lund. Williams also led both teams with 17 faceoff wins.
  • Following the Falcons first goal of the night, graduate student Matt DeMelis scored his first of the season, cleaning up a rebound from junior Matt Choupani at the midway point in the second period.
  • Just before the middle frame closed out, freshman Dylan Hryckowian, on a wraparound goal, scored his first collegiate goal to extend Northeastern's lead to 4-1. Walsh tallied his second assist of the night on Hryckowian's goal along with graduate student Brett Edwards
  • Capitalizing on the power play, graduate student Pito Walton netted a one-timer from the point for his second goal in as many games. Senior Alex Campbell and Lund, for his second time of the night, collected the assists.
  • Bentley's late third period goal was not enough to close the gap and Northeastern clinched the 5-2 victory.
  • To claim his second victory in back-to-back games, freshman Cameron Whitehead finished with 19 saves in 58 minutes played.
The Huskies are off next weekend, but are back in action on Thurs. Oct 26 on the road at New Hampshire. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
