BOSTON – The Northeastern volleyball team (9-7, 5-3 CAA) fell to Delaware (12-4, 5-3 CAA) on Sunday afternoon at the Cabot Center.
- Set One: Both teams traded points, with neither leading by more than two. A kill by Julianna Truscott extended Northeastern's advantage to 11-8, but Delaware tallied the next eight points to pull ahead at 19-8. A kill by Abby Reck and blocks by Reck and Kaylin Daniels trimmed the deficit to 21-13 down the stretch, but Delaware took the set at 25-16. The Blue Hens hit .500 in the frame.
- Set Two: The Huskies stormed out to a 12-4 lead, capped off by a kill from Reck. Delaware fought back though, tallying the next seven points to trim the deficit to 12-10. After a kill by Truscott made it 14-11, the Blue Hens went on a 5-0 run to pull ahead at 16-14. Delaware tallied seven of the final nine points in the frame, and took the set at 25-23.
- Set Three: Delaware got off to a 13-5 lead, but the Huskies notched seven of the next nine points to trim the deficit to 15-12. Delaware maintained a slim three-point advantage for the majority of the set, until a kill by Kinley Gomez made it 22-20. Kills from Anabel Zier and Reck held off Delaware's match point at 24-23, but the Blue Hen's ultimately won the set 25-23.
- Zier chipped in with eight kills and two blocks.
- Tessa Onaga tallied a team-high 10 digs.
- Reck recorded seven kills and four blocks.
- Daniels notched a team-high five blocks.
- Jessica Frannea dished out 25 assists.
The Huskies will host Hampton the weekend of October 14-15. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. on both days, and will stream on FloVolleyball.
