Huskies Hold Lead After Day Two Of Terrier Invitational

BOSTON — Senior captain Grace Miller, junior Devon Muldoon, junior Erin Murphy and the Huskies' 800 Free Relay team all picked up wins Saturday at the Boston University Terrier Invitational at the FitRec Competition Pool as they led the Northeastern swim and dive team in day two of the competition.
 
The Huskies currently hold a lead over Boston University, UMass, Fairfield and Bryant, accumulating 1,165 points over the first two days of the meet. BU is in second with 1,091 points.
  • Murphy kicked off her birthday afternoon with a win in the 3M Dive, scoring a 266.90 to take first and sweep both the 3M and 1M Dives at the Terrier Invitational. 
  • The night session began with the Huskies taking second in the 200 Medley Relay, with the team of junior Kate Cosgrove, sophomore Marcela Scaramuzza, senior Jamie Koo and sophomore Kotoko Blair touching the wall at 1:41.74, just two seconds behind the school record.
  • Muldoon championed the 400 IM, finishing at 4:23.87 in the A final and giving the Huskies 24 points toward the total. Freshman Bella Busconi won the B final, touching the wall at 4:39.87 and setting a new personal best for herself.
  • The Huskies had three swimmers in the top four of the 100 Fly, with Koo (54.33), freshman May Bradburn (54.63) and junior Hannah Seward (54.83) placing second, third and fourth, respectively, in the event.
  • Miller's win came next, as the Morristown, New Jersey native finished at 1:50.77 to clai the top spot in the 200 Free.
  • Sophomore Elisabeth Bendall was the top finisher for the Huskies in the 100 Breast, taking fourth with a time of 1:03.98, a personal best.
  • Muldoon set a personal best in the 100 Back, finishing fourth with a time of 55.41.
  • The Huskies' foursome of Miller, Seward, junior Emily Cooley and freshman Mary Nordmann took first in the 800 Free Relay, posting a 7:28.98 time.
The Huskies close out the 2023 Terrier Invitational Sunday, with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals kicking off at 5 p.m.
