BOSTON— The Northeastern men's hockey team fell to the Massachusetts Minutemen, 2-1, in overtime on Friday evening in Mullins Center.
- Both teams were scoreless through 47:36 of the game. After the first two periods of play, the Huskies outshot the Minutemen, 17-9.
- At the 7:26 mark of the third period, UMass broke the even stead for a 1-0 lead.
- With just a 1:44 left in regulation, sophomore Cam Lund buried his second of the season, eventually sending the game to overtime. With a two-on-one breakaway, the Huskies evened the game as Lund was assisted by senior Alex Campbell and graduate student Pito Walton.
- Just under two minutes into the overtime period, the Minutement were able to clinch the 2-1 victory.
- Goaltender Cameron Whitehead finished the night with 19 saves through 61:45 minutes of action.
- Sophomore Jack Williams lead the Huskies with nine faceoff wins, while Campbell recorded a team-high four shots on goal.
Northeastern is back in action next weekend as they prepare for a home-and-home series with the Providence Friars. The Huskies will travel to Schneider Arena on Friday evening before hosting the Friars on Saturday for homecoming weekend.
