Huskies Fall To William & Mary In Straight Sets

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Abby Reck tallied a team-high 13 kills, but the Northeastern volleyball team (11-11, 9-7 CAA) fell to William & Mary (13-13, 8-8 CAA) on Sunday afternoon at Kaplan Arena.
  • Set One: The Huskies got off to an early 4-2 lead, but the Tribe tallied five straight points to pull in front at 7-4. Both teams traded points for most of the set, with neither leading by more than two. William & Mary led 13-11, but a kill from Marika Virthe and an ace from Tessa Onaga evened the score back up. Northeastern pulled ahead at 22-20 down the stretch after a kill from Reck, but William and Mary tallied four straight points to lead 24-22. The Huskies held off set point twice, but William & Mary held on to take a tight frame at 28-26.
  • Set Two: The Tribe stormed out to an early 11-2 lead and didn't look back in the frame. Northeastern chipped away at the deficit throughout, but William & Mary remained in front. An error by the hosts and a kill by Julianna Truscott made it 20-17, but the Tribe tallied the next three points to lead 23-20. William & Mary ultimately closed the set at 25-20.
  • Set Three: The Tribe tallied 15 of the first 20 points to take a 15-6 advantage. The Huskies notched three points to make it 19-11 down the stretch, but William & Mary took the set at 25-12. The Tribe hit .333 in the frame.
  • Onaga tallied a team-high 11 digs.
  • Inbal Peleg had 14 assists.
  • Marika Virthe chipped in with five kills and four blocks.
  • Anabel Zier tallied five blocks.
The Huskies will host Towson the weekend of November 11-12. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. on both days and will stream on FloVolleyball. Prior to Sunday's match, the Huskies will honor their six seniors for Senior Day.
