Lund Hat Trick Lifts Northeastern To Victory Over No. 1 Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Cam Lund records his second career hat trick to lift the Northeastern men's hockey team to a 5-3 victory over the No. 1 Boston College Eagles.
  • Northeastern would open up the game scoring three unanswered goals in the first period. Brewed from a battle along the boards, the puck was cleared to find junior Braden Doyle at the left point. Taking a few strides up the slot, Doyle ringed one in for a 1-0 lead and his first of the season. Freshman Billy Norcross tallied an assist to pick up his first collegiate point.
  • Sophomore Cam Lund would net the Huskies second goal of the game with a wrap-around carry that snuck just behind the Boston College netminder. Lund, with his second in as many games, was assisted by freshman Dylan Hryckowian and graduate student Pito Walton, who skated in for his 100th career game.
  • With a wide-open lane from the left faceoff dot, graduate student Matthew Staudacher sniped Northeastern's third goal and his first as a Husky. Justin Hryckowian and Alex Campbell were credited with the helpers.
  • In light of the Huskies spark in the opening frame, the Eagles would net three unanswered goals in the second period to tie the game 3-3 heading into the second intermission.
  • The game remained at a standstill until the 6:08 mark in the third period when Lund netted a one-timer off a two-on-one rush for the Huskies to take a 4-3 advantage over the Eagles. The assists were courtesy of Jack Williams and Dylan Hryckowian, his second of the night.
  • For the second time in his career, Lund recorded a hat trick against Boston College as he buried an empty-net goal with 1:16 left in the game to seal Northeastern's 5-3 win.
  • In an outstanding performance, the freshman goaltender Cameron Whitehead made 24 saves in a full 60 minutes played for the Huskies.
  • Justin Hryckowian led the way with 13 faceoff wins, while freshman Nolan Hayes recorded a team-high four blocks.
The Huskies are back home tomorrow night to host the Eagles in their White Out game. Puck drop is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
