No. 5 Huskies Take on Terriers in Beanpot Semifinals

BOSTON— The No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team will open the 44th annual Women's Beanpot with a matchup against the Boston University Terriers on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. at Boston College's Conte Forum. The game will be broadcast live on NESN and ESPN+, while tickets are available here.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS: The Huskies enter the Beanpot on a 13-game winning streak, most recently having defeated New Hampshire, 4-1, to capture the Hockey East Regular Season crown. The Regular Season Title is the fifth in program history and fourth straight crown for the Huskies. Northeastern owns the No. 1 seed and home ice advantage in the Hockey East playoffs.
  2. BEANS, BEANS AND MORE BEANS: Northeastern owns 17 Beanpot Championships, the most of all four schools. The Huskies will be going for a record 18th this year at Boston College. The Huskies last won the tournament in 2020, defeating Boston University in double overtime. Graduate student Chloé Aurard was named the Beanpot MVP in 2020. BU and the Huskies last faced each other in the first round in 2019, the game officially went down as a 3-3 tie, but BU advanced to the Championship after winning the shootout, 2-1. Alina Mueller leads all current Husky players with eight Beanpot points in just four games played. Aurard is second on the team with six points, and a team-high four goals.
  3. THE RICE FILE: Husky legend Fiona Rice '90 is set to be formally inducted into the Women's Beanpot Hall of Fame between games on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Rice joins Mary Restuccia from Boston College, Abby Cook from Boston University and Emerance Maschmeyer from Harvard in the class of 2023. The Huskies won four-straight Beanpot championships during Rice's four years with Northeastern. Rice was named the Beanpot MVP as a sophomore in 1987. She posted three goals in the 7-1 victory over Harvard in the title game, including the game-winner.

Northeastern will next turn its attention to UConn as they travel to the new Toscano Family Ice Forum on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.
