Charleston, S.C. — The Northeastern women's basketball team (17-11, 12-5 CAA) continued its torrid play as it led by as many as 33 in the fourth quarter, and would go on to defeat host College of Charleston (11-17, 6-12 CAA), 74-60, on Thursday night to run its win streak to seven.

It was the 12th CAA victory of the season for the Huskies, a program record. This tops the previous-best record of 11-7 in 2017-18.

Asha Parker had the best game of her career, setting personal bests with 14 points (ties career-high) and 12 rebounds, her second double-double of the season.Â

Derin Erdogan and graduate student
JaMiya Braxton also had 14 points, while junior
Deja Bristol came off the bench to score 13 and had eight rebounds. Braxton added six rebounds and game-best five assists (season-high), while sophomore
Gemima Motema and Erdogan each also dished out four assists.Â
- The Huskies got off to a quick 4-2 lead after back-to-back layups from senior Jaelyn Batts and Parker.
- Â Northeastern continued to roll, going on a 7-0 run highlighted by a three-pointer by Erdogan and a layup by Braxton to take a commanding 11-1 lead at the 6:33 mark.
- The Huskies went on another 7-0 run a minute later, highlighted by a Braxton three to lead 20-6.
- Â Northeastern shot 55.6% (10-of-18) overall, and 42.9% (3-of-7) in the first to take a 26-12 lead into the second.
- The Cougars would get a basket just nine seconds into the second to cut the lead to 26-14, but that would be the last basket they would make the entire rest of the quarter.
- With the hosts struggling to score, Northeastern went on a 10-0 run for over five minutes to lead 36-14 at the 5:21 mark after a layup by junior Halle Idowu.
- Charleston would hit four free throws over the final four minutes of the half, but Northeastern took a massive 43-18 lead into halftime.
- The Cougars missed their final 14 shots of the first half, going 1-for-15 overall and 0-for-7 from deep in the second quarter.
- The Huskies continued to roll in the third, going on an 8-0 run within the first few minutes, highlighted by jumpers from Braxton and Parker to extend the advantage to 52-22 at the 6:34 mark.
- The teams traded buckets down the stretch, and the Huskies continued to remain ahead, up 62-31 heading into the fourth.
- After a Bristol layup seconds into the fourth gave the Huskies its largest lead of the game, at 64-32, Charleston went on a quick 11-0 run to trim the deficit to 64-42 at the 7:36 mark.
- Freshman Oralye Kiefer and junior Amyrah Sapenter tallied back-to-back buckets down the stretch to help secure the win.
The Huskies will close the season at UNCW on Saturday, March 4. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm, and can be watched on FloHoops. A win will guarantee Northeastern a top-3 seed in the CAA tournament next week, and a double bye for the first time in program history.
