GAME 1 – NU 14, MON 6
- Northeastern got off to a quick start with one-out hits from Danny Crossen, who extended his hit streak to 22 games, and Alex Lane, to put two runners on early.
- It was the number four hitter, Tyler MacGregor, who would capitalize on the early runners as he battled an eight-pitch, full count at-bat. He hammered the eighth pitch over the center field wall to give NU a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
- Monmouth was able to respond in the bottom of the frame with two hits of their own, scoring one run to cut into the NU lead.
- In the top of the second, Harrison Feinberg sent a solo shot over the center field wall to extend the lead to 4-1.
- In the third inning, Lane led off with a HBP, and MacGregor hit his second straight single. Mike Sirota stepped up to the plate and hit a 2-2 count right up the middle for an RBI single, scoring Lane from second.
- After a double steal from Sirota and MacGregor, Carmelo Musacchia hit an infield single to score MacGregor and advance Sirota to third.
- Sirota would run home on a passed ball to extend the lead to 7-1.
- After two scoreless innings, the Hawks got the bats going in the bottom of the fourth, plating four runs on five hits to cut it to 7-5.
- After a three inning scoreless stretch, Lane led off the seventh with a solo shot over the left center field wall to bring NU's lead back up to three runs at 8-5. That opened the floodgates for the Huskies to tally five runs in the inning to etend the lead to seven runs.
- After Lane's homer, MacGregor and Sirota hit back-to-back singles and Carmelo Musacchia hit them home with his second home run of the season.
- After Spenser Smith reached on a single and advanced to third on a base hit from Gregory Bozzo, Harrison Feinberg tallied a sac-fly to score Smith to make it 12-5.
- The Hawks tallied one back in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead back down to six runs.
- After starter Wyatt Scotti left the game in the fourth inning, Patrick Harrington took over for 5.2 innings of relief work, earning his third win of the season. He allowed just one unearned run on one hit, one walk, and struck out three.
- It was the first 20-hit game for the Huskies since May 15, 2021 when the Huskies defeated Delaware 26-4.
GAME 2 – NU 9, MON 5
- Both teams traded scoreless frames to begin the game but the Huskies once again struck first, this time getting a leadoff single from Jimmy Sullivan – he would make it all the way to third on a fielding error in the outfield and a wild pitch.
- From third he was scored by Luke Beckstein, who hit a single to left field to put NU up 1-0.
- Northeastern extended the lead in the fifth on three runs on three hits and an error. With the bases loaded with two outs, Alex Lane hit an RBI single to the left field scoring two runners in Jimmy Sullivan and Luke Beckstein to make it 3-0.
- The next batter, Tyler MacGregor, tallied an RBI single to score Danny Crossen, putting the lead at four runs.
- NU put up another crooked number in the seventh, scoring five runs on a Danny Crossen sac-fly, an Alex lane RBI double, a Tyler MacGregor RBI single, and a Jack Thorbahn RBI double. The Huskies led 9-0 after seven.
- Huskies starter Aiven Cabral pitched six full scoreless innings allowing just two hits, striking out five batters, for his third win of the season.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Monmouth started a rally with a no-out, two-run homer over the left field wall for their first runs of the ballgame.
- That home run spurred a five run inning, tallying them on five hits and one error, cutting the NU lead to just four.
- Entering the game at a 9-5 scoreline was Griffin Young, who slammed the door with 1.2 innings scoreless in relief, clinching the win for the Huskies.
