BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Northeastern Huskies (41-12, 20-10 CAA) fell to the College of Charleston Cougars (34-20, 18-12 CAA) by a score of 9-2 in a weather-shortened six-inning game to wrap up their weekend series on Saturday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
The Huskies found themselves behind early due to a three-run Cougar home run in the top of the first, and despite a response in the bottom of the inning from
Mike Sirota (1-for-3, HR) and another homer in the fourth by
Harrison Feinberg (1-for-2, HR, BB), the Cougars would build and hold a heavy early lead to claim victory as the game was called in the top of the seventh due to heavy rain.
- The Cougars took an early lead in the first on a three-run homer, after a walk and single placed two runners on with two outs.
- Northeastern answered back in the bottom of the frame on a leadoff homer by Mike Sirota to cut the lead down to two.
- Charleston tacked on four more in the second inning with a run scoring on a double play, and two homers to lead 7-1.
- Another homer in the fourth made it 9-1 Charleston.
- Northeastern got a solo home run to cut into the lead in the fourth, off the bat of rookie Harrison Feinberg, to make it 9-2.
- Charleston shut the Huskies down in the fifth and sixth innings before the game was called in the top of the seventh due to rain.
- The Huskies got 2.1 scoreless relief innings from James Quinlivan, working the fifth and sixth innings striking out three batters. The two and a third innings were a new career high for Quinlivan, and his three punch outs tied his career high.
The Huskies head down to the CAA Tournament next week they await the final games of the weekend to conclude to find out their seeding and opponent. All CAA Tournament games will stream on FloBaseball.
