WORCESTER, Mass.— Avery LeVangie and Jessie Hunt combined on two goals to lead the Northeastern women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders on Sunday afternoon. The victory marked the Huskies' first win of the 2023 season. 

• In the 29th minute of action, Avery LeVangie scored the Huskies' first goal of the season and her first career goal to give Northeastern a 1-0 lead. Jessie Hunt claimed the assist after serving the ball in on the corner.
• Five minutes later, LeVangie and Hunt linked up again on another corner to put Northeastern up 2-0 just before the half. LeVangie's brace marked her first multi-point career game. 
• In the second half, Northeastern was whistled for a foul in the box which led to a penalty kick opportunity for the Crusaders that they converted on to cut the deficit to 2-1.
• Sofie Fox put the Huskies' lead back at two, pushing the score to 3-1 with her first career goal in the red and black in the 87th minute. Rose Kaefer and Alexis Legowski each recorded an assist on Fox's goal.
• Holland Stam made two saves in her first win of the season.

Northeastern will next face San Jose State in its home opener at Parsons Field on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.
