CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Northeastern Huskies (3-1-1) took down the Harvard Crimson (0-2-2) by a score of 4-0 on Tuesday evening at Jordan Field.
After holding a 1-0 lead at the half, the Huskies exploded for three goals in the span of eight minutes in the second half to put the game away. Goals came from
Federico Tellez (1),
Jack Monte (3),
Fraser Brown (4), and
Griffin Polinsky (1).
- Federico Tellez opened the scoring in the 10th minute when he picked off a pass in the midfield, took it to the edge of the 18, and fired a shot upper 90 off the crossbar and in. His solo effort gave the Huskies the early 1-0 lead.
- The Crimson began the second half with pressure, keeping possession in the Huskies' defensive third – but the Huskies were able to break out and go on a scoring run of three goals in about eight minutes.
- A corner kick in the 66th minute saw a familiar duo of Tellez and Jack Monte linking up on a corner kick and header combo to double the lead 2-0.
- Just four minutes later Fabrizio Cubeddu charged towards the 18 and laid it off to Fraser Brown – Brown took his signature mid-range right-footed shot and tucked it into the upper right side of the net.
- In the 75th it was Griffin Polinsky scoring his first career goal on a beautiful counter-attack, with assists to Ethan Franco and Morris Matthews. Franco notched his first assist as a Husky on the play.
- Northeastern led in shots 15-11, 5-3 on goal.
- Goalkeeper Gregor Shaw finished with his second straight shutout, stopping all three shots on goal from the Crimson.
- Northeastern tallied four goals in a game for the first time since 2021.
- The Huskies are now unbeaten in their last four matches dating back to September 2nd. They are 3-0-1 on the road this season.
The Huskies return to CAA action this Saturday at William & Mary – kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
