BUIES CREEK, N.C.— Down by two goals at the half, the Northeastern women's soccer team rallied back to claim a 3-3 draw against the Campbell Camels on Thursday evening. The Huskies had three different goal scorers on the night in
Vivian Akyirem,
Lauren Ahles and
Jessie Hunt.
Tonight's game marked the first-ever meeting between the Huskies and Camels.Â
- Akyirem scored her fourth goal in as many games with a strike from distance to give Northeastern an early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Rose Kaefer picked up an assist on the play.
- The Camels then went on to score three unanswered goals in the first half to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
- Just over three minutes into the second half, Ahles finished off a wild sequence in the box off a corner to bring the Huskies back within one. Katherine Marchesseault assisted on Ahles' second tally of the season.
- The Huskies tied the game up at 3-3 when Hunt converted from the penalty spot in the 74th minute. Hunt calmly put home her second penalty kick goal of the year after Alexis Legowski won the opportunity for NU in the Camels' box.
- In the final ten minutes of the game, Holland Stam made a spectacular save to preserve the 3-3 tie for Northeastern.
The Huskies will stay in North Carolina to face the Elon Phoenix on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.
