BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The Northeastern Huskies set a new program record for most goals in a game as they defeated the Hampton Pirates, 10-0, on senior day. The charge was led by
Maggie Cochran who tallied a hat trick, while
Vivian Akyirem recorded three assists.
- The Huskies scored eight first half goals, breaking the previous program record (6) goals in a single game.
- Maggie Cochran scored three goals for Northeastern, recording her first collegiate points. Cochran put the Huskies on the board in the opening five minutes of the match before tallying her final two goals late in the first half.
- Vivian Akyirem recorded assists on three of the first five goals scored by Northeastern. She tied the program's single-game assists record (3), while contributing various scoring opportunities for the Huskies.
- Seniors Jessie Hunt and Gaby Scarlett both scored for the Huskies. Hunt netted back-to-back goals, including a penalty shot for her second that broke the program record. Scarlett scored Northeastern's 10th, and final, goal of the match for her first of the season.
- Also scoring for the Huskies was Lauren Ahles (2), Lauren Dupont (1) and Megan Putvinski (1). Additionally, Dupont tallied two assists for an overall three-point game.
Northeastern hits the road next weekend for a two-game stint. The Huskies will take on Delaware on Thurs., Sept 28 at 6 p.m. before heading to Hofstra on Sun., Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
